The importance of sharing relevant content in media,

While Allie and John are working hard on their presentation, Jen is working just as hard promoting great content about their presentation. The business growth trifecta!
“Social Media is a great tool to gauge public interest in a product, service, or idea.”
One of the things that many people do not realize about Media platforms is they are great tools to get feedback. The online crowds are mostly unbiased people with their raw opinions and no vested interest. Where else on earth can you get a general reaction before you write a blog, build a prototype, or change the menu? No, that was a real question. You think and I'll wait...
Relevant Content
Don't take my word for it, try it. Even if you post something rare or unlikely you are almost guaranteed to elicit a response that has some value. I highly suggest that you do not post that you were debating about piercing your pinky toe on your business page though. I do suggest that you post something relevant about your idea, product, or service.
Take this true story for example:
Here in Detroit, Michigan, back in July, I stumbled across a well hidden secret food. It must have been known only to expert foodies that had kept it to themselves. I found it in of all the places on EARTH, a Coney Island Restaurant.
That food was a Corned Beef Cheeseburger!
Now, I discovered this wickedly delicious date with heart failure because I was undecided and READ the whole menu. As a marketer, I was mortified as soon as I took the first bite. Juice rolled down my lip and I was slightly okay with the idea of dying with onion roll crumbs on my vain little face, at that moment. Oh, you want to know why I was mortified?
Because there were a least a dozen signs plastered in the windows and doors that advertised SOUP!
Yes, the bulk of the time and budget went to promote hot, homemade Chicken soup in 95 degree weather. Every car that drove by, every bus full of potential patrons, every group of hungry bike-riding teens that pedaled through the lot, most likely took one glance at HOT SOUP for sale in July and sped up.
A Corned Beef Cheeseburger and a icy drink would have been a very relevant marketing strategy!!!
My point, Social Media is a great way to gauge what your audience (potential customers) would want or want to know more about (your idea, products, or service). It can lead you to what is relevant to them and what is not!
Just a bit of advice- please make sure that your content is relevant to your audience.
I see no reason to stop for hot soup in July, but that Corned Beef Cheeseburger has my attention all 12 months of the year now!
